I am a 53 year old female who as a young teenager, began listening to a guy named Larry Norman, then the Second chapter of Acts & Barry Maguire, Honeytree, Evie, and so on, I began to notice in the 90's how I stopped enjoying Christian Music. In fact, I didn't listen on the radio at all. It didn't touch my heart anymore. So your statement about "keep it simple and don't go deep: resonated strongly with me. You put into words what I have known, but, didn't know how to express it. Also, the chorus's that churches sing now, hits me the same way. A few songs have been written that have touch my soul and I worship the Lord every time I hear and sing them. Or maybe that the 70's was just a very special time. Again great article.
